Yes. The fire bowls are made with concrete and fiberglass to reinforce the structure. The fire bowls also have colorant all through so in the event a chip does happen you will still have the same color. These fire bowls are made to withstand all elements of hot, cold rain or sunshine.
It is not necessary though it will not hurt to cover them especially if your environment has harsh condition, heavy rain, snow or leaves. Covering your fire bowls when using automation is great idea to insure rain water does not enter your fire feature when not in use.
Do you offer fire bowls that are smooth finish? Yes. We have a couple of variety of fire bowls. Our standard fire bowls you see with pock marks standard concrete with fiberglass reinforced. The pock marks are random as the bowls go through the process of molding. We cannot control how the pock marks turn out making each bowl unique and giving a natural finish to most environments. If you desire to have a completely smooth no flaw fire bowl we also provide those as well. This is GFRC product line. GFRC stands for, Glass Fiber Reinforced Concrete. This style of fire bowls is a lot more demanding when it comes to making them which can extend the process of time for delivery. GFRC is a stronger fire bowl than standard fire bowls and can have a flawless finish on the outside. The finishes allow for a high heat epoxy and a few more color options than standard concrete.
No. Unfortunately the molds are standard molds though there are a large selection of sizes and styles to select from, we are sure one will fit your landscape vision.
No. Unfortunately the smallest fire bowl to use automation in is the 27’’ Round and the 24’’ Square. The Square 24’’ fire bowl is borderline capable of having a remote module though if you do not mind a little bit of a baseballs pitcher mound of fire glass than it can work. Any products larger are ok to install automation. The Remote module hardware is installed inside the fire bowl. If needed to install outside of the fire bowl there are solutions to resolve this.
All hardware used are 304 stainless steel, Fire Rings, Remote module housing. Fire glass is high heat tempered and will last a lifetime.
As for the fire bowls our position that we stand behind is this. Once you place your order your bowls are freshly made, Cast, Cured and palletized for shipping. Our quality control foreman inspects all products insuring no defects. Once the bowls leave the yard on freight we lose control of handling even though we strive to secure and protect the fire bowls to the best of our ability sometimes incidents happen. If you encounter damaged products upon delivery we ask you to take a picture immediately and email our office. We will than put a claim in and in most cases simply recast that product for you at no additional cost. All hardware is covered under manufacturer’s limitation of any defectiveness. Remote Module systems have a limited 2 year manufacturer warranty.
In some circumstances we have inventory on our most popular fire bowl products. If you select one of these products we have to palletize the products and schedule freight to pick them up which can take about a week, give or take. Products that are not available in stock and have to be made can take around 4 to 6 weeks due to variables we have no control over, example, weather can cause a delay in curing of the bowls properly. Mass orders that come in at once can slow the process down. Scheduling of Freight for pick up. Other than in stock products we do not guarantee a specific delivery date we can only project and estimated time frame. We understand your position as well to corresponding with your contractors so everyone tries their best to get the fire bowls out as fast as possible. GFRC (Glass fiber reinforced concrete) products can be in a window of anywhere from 6 to 8 weeks due to the nature of how these made.
Most of the products we have online already have the required safety required amount. To understand fire glass use in a direct fire is a very minimum of 2’’ deep by the volume. It surely does not hurt to have 3’’’ to 4’’ of depth of fire glass in your fire feature. The more volume of fire glass will produce a larger surface area for the base of the fire as the extra fire glass with trap more gas and give off a larger fire base. No. Be careful not to use natural rocks. Natural stone has small pockets of air inside a natural stone and heated up to a certain level these rocks will start to explode like popcorn and can cause injury to those around your fire feature. The only products accepted to use in a direct line of fire are our line of fire glass, lava rock, Ceramic stones or shapes specifically made and designed fore high heat. With transparency automation has its Pros and Cons. If you have multiple fire features and entertain often the advantage to having automation can be a positive experience. The automation systems can tie into your main pool controller, Jandy, Aqua Link, Pentair or you can have a dedicated wall switch to turn them on and off. The value of being able to push a button and turn all your fire features on at one time gives you control. There are benefits to automation like if the wind blows out your fire the system will reignite or if it cannot re light the system will automatically turn its self-off after a few attempts. Most automated systems last on an average of 5 to 8 years though this is not a guarantee. The Cons are with automation it is always exposed to the direct elements of nature. No. Normally CSA/UL certification applies when combining gas and electricity in one component. If you happen to order a fire ring, burner pan, key valve and other components as a standalone purchase this would not have a CSA/UL certification. There are many components that are offered that do meet the CSA/UL requirements. Make sure to consult with your local gas and electrical guidelines in your area to what is required for your installation
Yes we provide a 2 inch hole for all plumbing needs. If you add automation to your fire feature we recommend you drill another hole dedicated for drainage. Note: If automation is used the warranty will not cover the unit if it has been determined that the remote module has been in a pool of water within the bowl.
